Forming a garage band in Denmark is not easy. It takes time. “There’s not a lot of people playing this kind of music,” The Youth’s bassist David Peter Jorgensen attests. The Youth are your typical begat-from-school act, where singer-guitarist Lasse Tarp hooked up with lead guitarist Jesper Agerbrek, then recruited drummer Sune Christian Thomsen and finally Jorgensen.

Schwindy's Indie Music Spotlight: The Masonics "in Your Night Of Dreams And Other Foreboding Pleasures"

I will say one thing for the artists on Dirty Water Records. They know how to grab my attention. The latest from one of my favorite labels begins with some fuzzy guitar that sounds like it was recorded in the mid-60s. Then the vocals come in and they have the same kind of dirty sound as the guitar. The end of the song is a psychedelic feast for the ears. I'll say it for the record. I was immediately hooked on The Masonics.
