Taking Music Backwards Into Tomorrow

Schwindy's Indie Music Spotlight: Thee Vicars "I Wanna Be Your Vicar"

Once upon a time someone decided that a label should be placed on albums that have explicit content. If the day ever comes when someone decides to put a warning on albums that are ultra-catchy, I Wanna Be Your Vicar will definitely get one of them.

The album begins with the title track and from the first notes, Thee Vicars get your head moving. I'm not kidding you. This will make you want to put on some 60s mod gear and dance in your living room. It's certainly not the only song that will have that effect. "I Feel Alright" is another one that will get you moving. Oh, and if there is any one song that deserves a catchy warning label, it's "Crocodile Chomp." Don't be surprised if you find yourself listening to this song more than once and singing it at random times during your day.

The sound of this album is pure 60s. It will bring to mind bands like Dave Clark Five and early Rolling Stones. Just listen to "Rooftop Blues" and try not to picture a young Mick Jagger. If you like 60s rock that's soulful, raw, and just a little bit trashy, go out and get this album. It is available today from Dirty Water Records.
