The Listening Post: Harry Violet and the Sharks "Jungle Cavalcade"
Harry Violet & the Sharks are an upbeat, sax-driven rock & roll 4-piece from London who’s 12-bar rhythms and hair-raising grooves have been taking London by storm. With a DIY approach to their music, the band are passionate about making a raw 50’/60’s rock & roll and garage sound; creating every element themselves right from the recording to the production and pressing, they devise all of their own music.
Drawing upon influences such as The Cramps, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and Tom Waits, (although at times the vocals are possibly a little too Tom Waits perhaps?), Harry Violet & the Sharks are inspired by the recordings and raw sounds of The Sonics and Link Wray. They have a great sound and an abundance of energy and effectively blend the late-50’s sound of surf rock with the early-60’s garage rock.
